i noticed there was some talk about whether or not General Grievous was a Sith. it was something i thought warranted some more discussion. i have to say that anyone who hasn't read Labyrinth of Evil and Revenge of the Sith should. Grievous was a pawn, used by the Sith to reach an end. he was trained by Dooku in lightsaber forms, but no futher Sith training. what are the thoughts?

I had generally assumed that. I think Dooku led him to believe he could be a Sith.

I remembder Dooku telling Sidious or vice versa that General Grievous adopted the way of the Sith. This was clone wars chapter 23 or 22.

I agree with Lord Exar Kun and Empress Palpatine on this issue. Grievous was a pawn.

Grievous was a definite scapegoat. Sidious focused all of the Jedi focus on Dooku and Grievous. the Jedi were fooled into thinking that by capturing or killing Dooku and Grievous, the war would end. Sidious manipulated Dooku and Grievous into thinking they were important.

Hey check out this paragraph.
Palpatine was a political genius with a cunning understanding of the human mind, becoming a trusted and beloved Senator in the Galactic Senate, a good and modest man by reputation. In addition to broad expertise in areas such as psychology, bureaucracy, and philosophy, he had the ability to foresee countless possible futures so that he could manipulate events as a grandmaster moves pieces on a dejarik board.

I would like to ask a question about General Grievous. Why does Grievous cough a lot? You never see him smoke in the entire movie so why all the coughing?

As you know, Grievous is an alien/robot hybrid. He was once a great warrior on his home planet. He was approached by Dooku to join him and refused. Dooku engineered an "accident" in which Grievous's shuttle crashed, severely injuring him. He was "rescued" by Dooku's forces and remade. The process was not a complete success and Grievous has some breathing problems because of it.

Grievous coughs because during the abduction of palpatine mace windu crushed his chest and so it crushed his lungs so thats why he coughs.

I don't believe the General was a Sith at all, according to the films and books he was leader of the Separatists. My personal opinion about being a Sith is being able to manipulate the Force, which Grevious could not. Separatist only not Sith.
Anyone agree?

Greivous was little more than a pawn - an attempt to trap kenobi in the end. Read Labyrinth of Evil & Revenge of the Sith.
one or other, probably RotS specifically states greivous is not a sith and does not/ can not feel the force.
