how can you define the force as being as in balance? 1. by the numbers of the users on each side? 2. by the sheer power? 3. or simply by the actions taken?
if you mean the first - then technically, i *suppose* so, as after the purge there were only two of each... if you went by that and power then the dark side would hold sway, and as such there could be no balance - there's no way yoda/ obi could have matched sidious at the height of his powers

You would have to average out the energies of the whole galaxy, not just the Force practicioners themselves. When Palpatine changed the government from a corrupt republic to a cleaner empire, that shifted things. The corrupt republic had to be done away with, and Anakin was the one to be sure that happened.

I agree with Empress Palpatine. Anakin by levaling the out of balance currupt Republic he did bring balance to the force. To use the earth equivealant is if the whole earth became communist instead of capitalist. This would bring balance because in communism things are equally distributed, while in capitalism things are top heavy.

i'm not sure if he was the chosen one or not. i have to ask the same questions as Darth Sidious, how do you determine what the chosen one is? Anakin was potentially the most powerful Jedi or Sith, as said many times by many different people. If power is the basis, then either side Anakin was on would be more powerful. However, when he was disconnected after the battle with Obi-Wan, the Force may have balanced in power. you can not have light without dark or dark without light.

Anakin was the chosen one to bring down the Jedi.

I think maybe Luke was the Chosen one. Luke's powers far out weigh his fathers, IMO. The Jedi also could have misread the prophecy , Anikin could be the one who the was the bringer of the chosen one, being that the lightside of the force was weakened and could not bring about a Luke type hero. Luke's pureness and dedication to the craft of Jedi is amazing, he started even later in life than his father, and with no real master after Obi-wan's death till Yoda , and yet he was powerful enough after a short period of Yoda's training to survive Vader's attacks (even impressed him). I know that there are many ways to look at this and this may not be yours but its an idea I have had since ROTS. The Other Idea is that Jedi Jin knew this to be true, and knew he would have to return to school Obi-Wan in the way to look after Luke yet not interfere with him in his youth.
Just a Thought, if you think you can add or detract from it lets hear from you.
