I recently saw Return of the Jedi back and I had some remarks by it. 1. How come an AT-ST explodes when it is hit by two trees coming from its sides because of the Ewoks? If I noticed well I saw Clones marching to dead wookies in Revenge of the Sith. They looked quite stabile so why do they explode so easily in ROTJ? 2. Why is it possible that Chewbacca and an ewok could open an AT-ST just by simply hopping in?
Damn, Moruth Doole should really have killed Chewie on Kessel.

its been a while since ive seen it, and i dont quite understand why it exploded, but heres my take anyway: point 1)the two trees hit it at such velocity - and at exactly the same time, with enough force to crush the 'head' of the AT-ST, probably causing severy damage to whatever type of power source was used in them. also remember that AT-ST means All Terrain Scout Transport, and that scoutingvesels are generally extremely lightly armoured.
point 2)either there was no lock on the entry hatch, or more likely, chewy had sufficient strength to open the hatch despite whatever locking mechanism may have been used

I noticed the battle of endor is the only time that George Lucas hints at protracted guerilla warfare. The Ewaks use this stratogy agianst the empire. I wonder if Lucas got the idea from the then popular Sandero Luminoso. Back then then the locals of that country was tired of being exploited and were fighting for their freedom. The country was Peru.

That is why I said that I wonder because I do not Know for sure. I just remember the sceen where the Ewaks make the logs roll down hill tripping the two legged Empirial walkers. Which is exectly what was done in peru. so I noticed the coincodence.

Mrs Darth Vader is correct about guerilla warfare. throughout history, stronger and more technological armies have been defeated by the more "primitive" armies. the ewoks used a "hit and run" approach, which is remarkably similar to the tactics used by the Vietnamese against the Americans in the Vietnam War. Lucas obviously leaned toward guerilla warfare to allow the ewoks to win.
