cant really be definate on this one unfortuately, but there are plenty of references to there still being some good in him in so many places, and his return wasnt exactly something that could have been forseen, especially considering the circumstances

I just wish his mind had been more adept to the Darkside of the force instead of giving into his misplaced love for his son.

Actually, it could have been avoided, had anyone noticed his retisance to kill young Skywalker outright. When Leia rescued him, Vader should have blown that ship to smithereens. I would have. It was obvious the kid wasn't going to turn, when he chose to fall into the abyss, rather than listen to anymore of what his father had to say. It was the one and only time I saw weakness in Lord Vader. Sad set of circumstances, that was.

It is really sad that Darth Vader wasn't with the Dark side as the Emperor for an example!

but he still turned back to the light so the darkside didn't really consume him

No, it didnt. turning to the dark side was, in reality, a voluntary act for him. The fact that he may have believed that he didnt have a choice in the matter is, in my opinion, mistaken. You dont have to be *fully* consumed by the dark side to be held in its sway.
all that aside, yes, he did fully trun to the dark side, but that did not completely destroy who he had been...it simply locked him away

I agree with Darth Sidious on this one. The write answer is Yes and No. At first Vader did the full turn to the dark side. With the addition of Ep.III. I think Darth Vader could have turned Luke to the dark side by handing Luke a dosier on Obi-Wan. Vader had an open shut case for Luke to side with both him and Palpatine, especially after that sceen on Mustafar where Obi-Wan cases the injuries to make Vader need the Suit.

I don't think that Luke would be that gulliable to join Vader... however, if Vader had got to him first then maybe he would of. But, Obi-wan was able to tell luke about his father, and how much of an awesome pilot he was. Then, Obi-wan sneaks in a little thing... the lightsaber, then of course he tells luke how much of a great warrior anakin was. Then he ends it with BUT... and I quote " a former pupil of mine was seduced by the dark side betrayed and killed your father" at point Luke would never go to the darkside.
Although, in Dark Empire he did kneel to Papaltine and sided with him so this way he knows Leia would be safe from the seduction of the darkside, and fron Papaltine as well.
in my opinion, Luke would have never sided with Vader.

Luke only was on the rebels' side because he did not hear the truth. If Vader had told him how he was burnt alive and left for dead by this Obi-Wan and patched back together by Palpatine, Luke would have had a totally different outlook.
Luke wasn't weak, just ignorant. "...Mistaken about a great many things."-Emporer Palpatine
